And here is the good news nested inside the bad: Many of you, most of you, are about to make that journey. You will go from being the best-informed, most engaged students at one of the finest universities around to being the person who brings coffee to people, or a Steak n Shake waiter, as I once was. Whether you’re a basketball player or a pharmacist or a software designer, you’re about to be a rookie. Your parents’ long-asked questions—what exactly does one DO with a degree in anthropology—will become a matter of sudden and profound relevance. Your student loans will come due and you will need a very good answer for why exactly you went to college, which answer you will have a hard time coming by as you sit at your job, provided you are lucky enough to find a job, and suffer the indignity of people calling you by the wrong name or, if you are forced to wear a name tag, people calling you by the right name too often.
That is the true hero’s errand—strength to weakness. And because you went to college, you will be more alive to the experience, better able to contextualize it and maybe even find the joy and wonder hidden amid the dehumanizing drudgery.

This is so great. I wish my speaker (can’t remember who he was, but he was bad) had told me these things.

I’ve just seen and heard so much hatred. I’ve been called garbage, I’ve been called the death of fucking good music, trash, stupid, pointless and disposable. I don’t understand. I’m just trying to make people happy. And it’s such positive, fun music. Like, why are people so angry?
WHO MADE KE$HA CRY I WILL CUT YOU
man
y’know
I don’t even care for her music all that much
But all of y’all people who are vehemently, aggressively insulting and just plain fucking rude about artists’ work
Y’all need a goddamn dropkick to the head.
reminder that celebrities are people too and you should treat people with love and respect.

Virgin Atlantic just launched the first ever glass bottomed plane. When you look down you get a bird’s eye view of the beautiful scenery of Great Britain. Flights begin March 31st, 2013.
:O
Sometimes people have a hard time understanding what a happy relationship between two people who obvs think the other is awesome looks like.
We think this is one great (and holy bananas, so freaking hilarious) example.

-You did a show recently and Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were in the audience, is that right?
-I didn’t know they were there and I have a bit in my act that sort of makes fun of Justin Bieber and some of these young pop stars.
It’s a song and it mocks basically the way that those songs are written.

Meet the Beardlsey family, who decided to dress up as Tobias Fünke from Arrested Development this past Halloween. Yes — all of them. Mother Autumn (Mrs. Featherbottom) explains:
A lot of people have asked how we got our kids to do it. I don’t really know why they do it, they just do. Like I said, the show is part of our family, and has taught us that family is the most important thing (unless of course you mean of the things we eat, in which case it’s breakfast).
